Planning a Loft Conversion in Time for ChristmasOctober 10, 2016 2:12 pm
For most people, Christmas planning will not start for at least a few weeks – especially since we still haven’t had Halloween or Bonfire Night. However, if you would like to add more space to your home ready to host family and friends over the Christmas holidays, it’s important to start planning your conversion as soon as possible.
The average loft conversion takes around 8-12 weeks, but this can be significantly more if you need to gain planning permission, especially if the application is denied and then appealed. We strongly recommend starting your loft conversion planning now if you would like an extra bedroom or two for Christmas.
Planning Permission for Loft Conversions
Pinnacle Architecture have extensive experience gaining planning permission for loft conversions throughout London, including in Finchley, Enfield, and Highbury and Islington. You do not always require planning permission for a loft conversion, and may be able to build your conversion as a ‘permitted development’ instead. This means that you can bypass the entire planning process, but your project will be subject to more restrictions in size and scope.
Finding competent tradesmen can be incredibly difficult, even in London. That’s why we have teamed up with a number of tried and tested building partners to offer our clients complete peace of mind throughout the loft conversion process. With our partners, we can guide you through the entire process from initial planning to final sign off by the building inspectors.
If you would like some extra room by December 25th, get in touch now to discuss your specific requirements and find out more about the difference between lofts with planning permission and those built as permitted developments. We are happy to assist with both and will work to provide all the information you need to make a truly informed choice.
